A Wider Net

Carespace and Cramer Move Ahead to Build Online Community for Caregivers

January 21, 2008

(BOSTON, MA – January 21, 2008)  – Carespace, Inc. announced today that its website development efforts with Cramer are on track to deliver the first wide-scale social network and online community platform for caregivers wherever they may live. Carespace expects to launch the first version of its software privately within weeks to several groups of caregivers for testing.

In August 2007, Carespace and Cramer signed a strategic pact whereby Cramer’s team will provide the programming behind Carespace.com. The content and features on Carespace.com are based on the needs and preferences of caregivers who were surveyed and interviewed by Carespace in advance of development.

The project is further boosted by Cramer’s expertise in serving many companies from various parts of the healthcare industry. The customer roster of Cramer Healthcare, a specialized practice within Cramer, includes many of the leaders in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, and medical device markets. These healthcare-oriented customers will provide Carespace with several relationship opportunities.

In addition, Cramer has built complex web applications and online communities for dozens of organizations in health and medical markets. Carespace also intends to leverage Cramer’s deep experience in video production to help connect caregivers and support the caregiver community.

“Cramer understood from the outset that Carespace is built for a large and unique community of caregivers with serious needs and little time to waste online,” said Matt Hillery, Carespace CTO. “This means our community platform has to be very easy to use and patterned on how caregivers want to interact with each other. Carespace isn’t a generic website with static medical information. It’s a set of contemporary tools designed to empower caregivers, and it’s as unique as the caregivers themselves.”

“Our investment in the growth of Carespace makes great business sense to us,” said Darren Ross, executive vice president for Cramer. “It’s exciting to be involved in such a big idea that also has such a wonderful social benefit.”
